Another life year has passed. “Mama I made it!” (Jay-Z) I made it through 32 years in life. Those who know me well, know I never even thought I was going to make it to 30. So yes, every additional year after 30, I will be extra grateful. Truth is, I am truly blessed. I know I sum up my blessings at the end of every calendar year. But marking a life year is more reflecting on personal growth and progress.
First of all, I have to say, this was one of the freshest birthday weekends I’ve had. Usually I am abroad for my birthday. In fact, this is the first time in years that I was actually in my own city. The reason I celebrated all weekend is because whenever my birthday falls in a weekend, people in the States always make it a whole weekend of partying. So the last 2 years I got kinda used to it haha. I thought to myself, why not do it over here as well? Thus I did.
Friday evening I started celebrating with Ty. He had to perform over here at Paradiso and made it a pre-birthday party for me as well. I had SUCH a great time that night. Ty’s show is hilarious. It’s like a musical performance sprinkled all over with stand-up comedy. Ty and his DJ, Big Ted, are funny as hell. They should get their own comedy show. I’d watch it. I’ve also met some wonderful people thanks to them. Thank you Ty & Ted for such a great friday night full of swapping childhood war stories and laughter. Can’t wait to see you raise your future kids lol.
Saturday I got up rather early, it got a bit late for me the night before even though I didn’t go to the club with the guys. Got up with Ty & Ted for lunch. Pancake Corner FTW! Ty beat me in a game of pool, I still need my re-match seeing my girls already got to Amsterdam to go shopping. In the evening, we went to dinner at my favorite restaurant, Alberto’s. Boy did we EAT. Now again, those that know me well, know that I’m a true pig when it comes to food. Lets not forget, Mainee is my PNC (Piggy iN Crime), but I think we took the definition of “piggin” to a whole new level this evening. There was no room for proper conversation, only for grubbing. We even got side tracked by the delicious side dishes. “Keep ya eye on the meat!” Huffin’ and puffin’ we cleared the plates. My dress was way too tight for this. Next time, I’m wearin stretch pants to Alberto’s lol. We got there, sat down, ordered and ate… within 45 minutes. Ridiculous. But hey, we love good food.

After the food, we were going straight to the club. As pregnant as I felt, by Alberto’s, we stumbled to the club. On my way to the club, my phone rang. It was a person I care deeply about, calling me to wish me Happy Birthday. And then I noticed the clock in the car, it was midnight to the dot. That was the sweetest thing. It’s the little things. Love is Love <3. In the club, they played my old school block and I was happy. One apple juice ruined my moves for me though. The juice just didn’t mix with the food in my already tight up, stretched out stomach. Ah, we had a good time and shook our booties. Shout out to my lovelies Mainee, Lex & Marilyn, for making my day & night such a great one.
During dinner, I reflected on my 32nd year with personal success, gain & blessings. I won’t go into details, but it was a good year. Marilyn asked me what I’m going to do different in this 33rd year of my life. Not much really, it’s more that I will keep going on the same path as I have in my mind. Stay focused on the things that are important and pay more attention to those that add true value to my life. Appreciate the things & people in my life more and as always, let them know that I do.
Sunday was my actual birthday. Born at 11.13 am (June 20th, 1978), I decided to set my alarm for that time to wake up. Call me crazy, but I did, so again, not much sleep. But who wants to sleep away beautiful days like this anyway? Ok, so it was cold and raining all weekend, my days were still beautiful lol. I went out to dinner with my dear friend Ralph. We went to a mexican spot called Alfonso’s. And yes, Alfonso knocked me up as well. True Pig for life yall. Ralph got me some Good Karma as a present, let’s hope it works lol. After the food, we caught a movie. Don’t go see Repo Men. Too much “Fanta” in that movie to actually enjoy it. Meh, you may like it, if you’re into “over the top imagination”-type of movies. Nonetheless it was a good nice birthday.

Much love to all my friends that made this a wonderful weekend. And to all those that were with me in spirit lol. Thanks for the many birthday wishes, emails, text messages, BBM’s, social media posts, phone calls and actual physical cards. Every year I’m more appreciative of everything. And every year I’m getting better. It’s not about aging, it’s about progressing.
Love all of you. God Bless.
